South Hams Beekeepers

Beginners Course

Each year we run a course intended for new prospective beekeepers, as well as those with a little experience of keeping bees.

The next course is due to start in January 2027 and comprises six fortnightly theory classes.  In the past these have been held at St Luke’s Church, in Buckfastleigh.   This course costs £80, payable in advance.

On completion of the theory sessions, there will be the option to undertake practical bee handling in small groups at the Branch or a member’s apiary in April / May (dates weather dependent). It is advisable to join the Branch by this point for insurance and other benefits. Branch membership is currently £33.
